The results were what I would have predicted. I would not have expected any hard outcome benefits. And I would have expected fewer vascular complications. I think the “patient satisfaction” aspect was an interesting (but again predictable) result.

More than 10 years on, this is routine practice. I think the pt convenience factor is a tremendous plus. Being able to mobilize immediately post procedure is a huge advantage for both inpatients and outpatients. And when in CCU, not having to worry about retroperitoneal bleeds is a welcome development.

I do wonder about the occupational health aspect for the operators. 1.3 min of extra fluoro time on avg per patient is not clinically significant for the patient, but cumulatively over years may well be significant for our Cath lab colleagues.
